Thank You for an Iconic Season
Dear InfraFriends, InfraFamily, and InfraFans!
InfraSound has shut the book on our 2024-2025 Season and “the library is closed OFFICIALLY.”
This was a big year for InfraSound, marking our 5th season as an ensemble, and 3rd season as an official 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Over the last 5 years InfraSound has worked with over 65 artistic collaborators (including musicians, visual artists, lighting designers, dancers, poets, fire performers, and composer/performers), premiered 19 new works, 37 new arrangements, and performed over 100 (!!!) contemporary chamber compositions.
This season we:
Worked with 25 musicians
Raised over $7000 to pay artists
Commissioned and produced Susan Botti’s Iconic – our first large scale theatrical work!
Premiered 16 arrangements in our annual InfraPops Concert
Performed 3 consecutive shows in Times Square!
Hosted our first community open mic, where we discovered new friends and reconnected with our old ones
Here’s a sneak peak of our goals for the upcoming season:
Releasing our long awaited debut album Book of Sorrows in collaboration with Darian Donovan Thomas and cmntx records
Performing a brand new version of InfraPops - our most exciting to date!
Centering queer voices and collaborators
Collaborating in more multidisciplinary ways with more performance artists and visual artists

This was also a year of great transition. After an incredible 6 years of working for InfraSound, Shannyn Rinker will be moving on to new projects and leaving their position as Development Director and Secretary of the board.
Shannyn is a founding member of InfraSound and has been with us from the start as acting Executive Director, Development Associate, and finally as Development Director and Secretary of the Board. During Shannyn’s tenure in the InfraSound Ensemble, she has been featured on works by Julius Eastman, Frederic Rzewski, Eve Beglarian, Yoshi Weinberg, Philip Glass, Eva-Marie Houben, Pauline Oliveros and many more.
As development director Shannyn has led a successful fundraising campaign for the last 3 seasons, and has increased InfraSound’s donor base ten-fold since its founding. They are also an incredibly sensitive and thoughtful collaborator, intensely dedicated to InfraSound’s mission, and a most genuine friend. InfraSound will sorely miss Shannyn, but we are so excited for their future endeavors (I hear she may take up farming upstate).

Next we are excited to announce that Stefanie Proulx will be taking on the role of InfraSound’s Executive Director.
Stefanie is also a founding member of InfraSound and has worn so many hats over the years - from Operations Director, Managing Director, Social Media Manager, and more!
Stefanie is enthusiastic about taking on a greater leadership role while continuing her organizational efforts for the group. She has performed in and produced nearly every InfraSound show to date, maintaining our social media presence and keeping everything running smoothly backstage. While she will be less present on stage in the coming seasons due to her move up north, she is excited for this next chapter in InfraSound’s journey of growth and change!
It has been an incredible 5 years of InfraSound, and we are so excited for what’s to come! We cannot make any of these productions happen without your support. If you love what we do and have anything to spare, a donation would go a long way in supporting our ambitious goals for the next season.
In these uncertain times, with increasing cuts to arts funding and vital social services, organizations like ours are at risk. It's more important than ever for queer creatives to keep creating art, both for ourselves and for the wider community.
