About
in·fra·sound
/ˈinfrəˌsound/
noun
sound waves with frequencies below the lower limit of human audibility.
Praised as “vibrant and enthusiastic” by New York Concert Review and called “one of New York City’s most promising groups of young artists” by Chamber Music America, InfraSound is a leading voice in NYC’s experimental music scene.
Since its founding, InfraSound has reimagined the concert experience through interdisciplinary collaborations and innovative programming. Highlights include a minimalist music collaboration with conductor David Bloom, a residency with the LGBT Center of Manhattan, and Book of Sorrows, our debut album with Darian Donovan Thomas. We’ve received support from Chamber Music America (Ensemble Forward and Classical Commissioning), New Music USA, LMCC, the Aaron Copland Fund, and the Mamlok Prize for Interpreters of Contemporary Music.
In addition to the InfraSound Ensemble, we support new musical endeavors through curated concerts and collaborations, amplifying the works of individuals who are largely unheard, and redefining the curation, promotion, and presentation of experimental music to create a more sustainable musical future.
InfraSound is driven by mutual artist support, interdisciplinary exploration, and community-rooted programming. Our programming continues to expand our reach through world premieres and dynamic performances that advance our mission to shape the evolving landscape of new music.
